Pia Sukanya’s ‘Bombairiya’ to premiere at Diorama International Film Festival in Delhi

Just a few days before its release, the black comedy mystery drama film ‘Bombairiya’ has been selected for the screening at the first edition of the Diorama International Film Festival. The film festival which starts on Monday is being held at the Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi, at 7 pm.

It is an entertaining film with a social message starring Radhika Apte in the lead, along with Siddhanth Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, Adil Hussain, Shilpa Shukla, Ajinkya Deo, and Ravi Kishan. The film is helmed by the director Pia Sukanya and written and produced by Michael E. Ward.

Last week, it was privately screened by Pinky Anand, Additional Solicitor General of India at the Supreme Court, for other members of the judiciary.

The antagonist of the film Adil Hussain, told Manoj Srivastava, the festival’s Chairman, about the film and recommended it for the festival. To which, Srivastava contacted producer Michael Ward and invited him to premiere the film at the festival.

The film is based on the theme of witness protection, which is quite applicable to India’s judiciary system. Here, hundreds of witnesses either turn their statements and deny their evidence or do not testify at all due to lack of proper protection.

‘Bombairiya’ will be released by SPE Films India and presented by Kreo Films FZ and Beautiful Bay Entertainment. Earlier it was scheduled to release on January 11, but the filmmakers postponed it to 18 January.
