While film festivals across the country seem to be becoming the new millennial past time, here comes another one that promises to be a confluence of Hollywood and Bollywood.
The first edition of Diorama International Film Festival is all set to take place in Delhi. The organizers who are promoting the festival as a one of its kind festival in Delhi inform that a total of 130 films from over 50 countries will be screened during the festival. The sheer number of films indicates that the arrangements will be on a high scale for this event in the city. The films will be chosen across genres and are said to be a confluence of Bollywood and Hollywood. It is informed that the works of actors and directors from no less than 40 countries would be seen.
The week-long festival does not plan to just culminate into film screenings. To keep the audiences riveted, there will also be conferences, masterclasses, workshops and film bazaar.
One of the main draws during its inaugural edition is promoted as the Sparrow Awards. These awards will be presented across a whopping 25 film categories at a gala ceremony at Sirifort Auditorium in the capital. The awards will be decided by four international Film Juries. All screening will also have online voting for Viewers Choice Award.
The juries at the film festival will be headed by eminent film personalities such as Iranian film director Darish Mehrjui, who was a founder of the Iranian New Wave movement in the 1970's and widely known for his film GAV (1969), British film producer/director Nik Powell known for his movies The Crying game, Brimstone and Siesta, and film directors Rahul Rawail and Deepak Tijori.
Other veteran personalities who will head the juries at the festival are Rafael Kapelinski (Poland), who won the Silver Bear in Berlin last year, Philip Cheah, film critic and editor of publication Big O, Singapore, actress Divya Dutta, renowned cinematographer Sanjay F Gupta and many more.
The event is supported by the Film Federation of India, the apex body of film makers in India and non-governmental organization Indian Film Institute which is also founded by Diorama director Manoj Srivastava.
The other events lined up for the festival include a red carpet night, a poster exhibition exploring the history of cinema, presentations by the cast and crew, a fashion show and also appearances by many stars of the movies showcased.
